Bathers’ Pavilion is offering ten emerging hospitality professionals the chance to experience the upcoming SingleThread Residency firsthand, as part of an initiative called Young Hospitality: A Seat at the Table.
The three Michelin-starred SingleThread, recently named joint No.1 restaurant in the world by La Liste, will relocate its team from Sonoma, California to Balmoral Beach for a four-week residency from 28 July to 23 August 2026. Led by husband-and-wife team Executive Chef Kyle Connaughton and Head Farmer Katina Connaughton, SingleThread is known for its seamless blend of hyper-seasonal Californian produce and Japanese culinary philosophy.
As part of the residency, ten emerging hospitality professionals under 30 will be hosted at a special lunch on Thursday, 30 July, experiencing the full dining experience, along with behind-the-scenes access and the chance to meet Chef Connaughton and both venue teams. The opportunity is open to those working across cheffing, front of house, and wine and beverage.
Supported by OpenTable and Square, the initiative continues a tradition from previous residencies and reflects a shared commitment to talent retention and mentorship at a time when the industry is working hard to attract and inspire the next generation.
To apply, send up to 250 words outlining your career aspirations, what hospitality means to you, and why you’d like to take part. Email residency@batherspavilion.com.au with “Young Hospitality: A Seat at the Table” in the subject line.
Applications close 9 July 2026.
