OpenTable revamps loyalty with gold status for frequent diners

OpenTable has launched a revamped loyalty program, including points and gold status for Aussie diners.

OpenTable has launched a revamped loyalty program offering Australian diners more ways to redeem dining rewards and access enhanced benefits at restaurants across the country.

The global restaurant technology platform’s updated OpenTable Regulars program allows diners to earn 100 points for every completed reservation made directly through the platform, with select bookings offering up to 1,000 points.

Australian diners can now redeem their accumulated points toward prepaid experiences at participating restaurants, including set price menus and wine tastings. Points can also be exchanged for Amazon gift cards, giving diners flexibility in how they use their rewards.

“Restaurants depend on loyal, high-value guests, and our enhanced loyalty program is designed to deliver just that,” said Robin Chiang, Chief Growth Officer at OpenTable. “This program is a big win for diners, too, who will benefit from even more ways to redeem points and get access to perks from OpenTable’s network of restaurants and strategic partners.”

Gold status for frequent diners

The program introduces Gold status for frequent diners who complete six reservations within 12 months.

Australian Gold members will receive priority access to last-minute restaurant openings through an enhanced ‘notify me’ feature and six months of free Uber One membership as an introductory perk.

The new loyalty tier represents a shift from OpenTable’s previous VIP status, with existing VIP members being offered the opportunity to transition to Gold status at launch.

The program is free to all OpenTable users and accessible through a new loyalty hub available both online and via the OpenTable app, where diners can track points, view exclusive benefits and redeem rewards.

OpenTable, owned by Booking Holdings Inc., works with more than 60,000 restaurants globally and facilitates 1.9 billion reservations annually. The loyalty program is also available in the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Mexico.
