Melbourne food delivery startup aims for national growth in 2026

Platform KRAVEiN gives restaurants ownership of customer data and lower fees.

A Melbourne-based restaurant technology platform is positioning itself as an alternative to traditional food delivery aggregators, offering venues commission-free QR code ordering and complete ownership of their customer data—just as the closure of homegrown rival Menulog leaves Australia’s delivery market dominated by two overseas players.

KRAVEiN, which launched in 2023, has signed more than 200 restaurants across Melbourne to its multi-channel platform and is preparing for nationwide expansion in 2026.

The company operates its own delivery fleet alongside integrated pickup, catering, and event booking services.

The timing of KRAVEiN’s expansion comes as Menulog announced it will stop accepting orders on 26 November after 20 years of operation, citing challenging market conditions and unsustainable losses. The Australian-founded platform’s exit leaves Uber Eats and DoorDash controlling the vast majority of the country’s food delivery market.

A different offering for operators

The platform differentiates itself from competitors like Uber Eats and DoorDash by allowing restaurants to maintain direct relationships with customers rather than functioning as an intermediary that controls access to ordering data.

Venues using KRAVEiN also receive free website and marketing tools as part of the partnership model.

“Unlike other platforms that gatekeep customer data and charge exorbitant fees, we’re committed to forming real partnerships with venues,” said Dave Wilton, CEO and co-founder of KRAVEiN.

The company’s business model centres on lower fees for restaurants while maintaining service quality through its proprietary delivery network. By operating its own fleet rather than relying on independent contractors, KRAVEiN aims to ensure consistent delivery standards.

KRAVEiN was founded by Wilton and Raj Mal, Head of IT, and has since expanded its leadership team to include COO Nino Rodrigues, CFO Ash Arnott, and Director of Sales and Marketing Josh Watson.
