Australian-owned restaurant chain Zambrero has formed a one-year national partnership with Parkrun Australia to promote healthy eating and support hunger relief efforts.
Under the partnership, Parkrun participants can receive a ‘buy one get one free’ offer every Saturday at any of Zambrero’s 280 locations across Australia by showing evidence of their Parkrun volunteer work or race results in-store.
The collaboration brings together two mission-driven organisations; Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative, which has donated more than 100 million meals over the past 20 years, and Parkrun’s free weekly 5K events that connect communities through fitness.
A natural fit for both brands
“Zambrero and Parkrun are a natural fit. We’re both focused on bringing people together around healthy choices and strong local communities,” said Zambrero CEO Daryl McCormack.
For every regular or large burrito, bowl, Kids Zam Box, or retail item purchased at Zambrero, the company donates a meal to someone in need worldwide through Plate 4 Plate. The donated meal packs contain a nutritious combination of dehydrated rice, soy, and vegetables fortified with 23 essential vitamins and minerals, designed to combat malnutrition.
Founded in Canberra in 2005 by Dr Sam Prince, an Australian medical doctor, Zambrero has grown to become the country’s largest Mexican-style restaurant chain.
Zambrero’s financial support will help Parkrun Australia cover operational costs, including equipment, technology, and volunteer support across the events nationwide, making sure the program remains free for participants.
