Australian Venue Co has confirmed it will be the next custodian of the iconic Quay restaurant site at Circular Quay, following the venue’s closure after 37 years of operation.
The hospitality group, which already operates Squires Landing directly below the fine-dining establishment, has acquired the space from Fink Group and will initially operate it as a functions and events venue while considering long-term plans.
Paul Waterson, CEO of Australian Venue Co, told Restaurant Business the company was honoured to take over the site created by Leon Fink and his team.
“Fink Group created a hospitality experience that was loved by Sydneysiders and visitors alike, which is a testament to the hard work and commitment of Leon and his team,” Waterson said.
“When it comes to locations, this venue is truly one of a kind. The showstopping views give guests a front row seat to the magic of Sydney Harbour; it’s a really special place.”
Quay, which enjoyed prime positioning overlooking Sydney Harbour, will close its doors on 14 February 2026, after nearly four decades as one of Australia’s most celebrated restaurants.
Waterson confirmed the space would operate as a functions and events venue in the short term while the company finalises its vision for the site’s future.
The takeover consolidates Australian Venue Co’s presence at Circular Quay, with the group now controlling both the upper and lower levels of the historic harbourside location.
