Australian burger brand Grill’d will open its third Victorian drive-thru location at Marriott Waters Shopping Centre in Lyndhurst on 20 December, marking the chain’s 177th restaurant nationally and its 56th in Victoria.
The Melbourne-based chain, founded in 2004, is celebrating the opening with free burgers for the first 754 customers—a tribute to the address of its original Hawthorn location at 754 Glenferrie Road. Members of Grill’d’s Relish loyalty program will also receive $10 burgers throughout the opening weekend.
Simon Crowe, founder and managing director at Grill’d, said the Marriott Waters location represents a strategic expansion into Melbourne’s growing southeastern suburbs. The site sits on former farmland once owned by the Marriott family, with the original homestead still standing nearby.
“As the community grows, this restaurant will play a key role in giving Australians easier access to fresh, healthy, delicious burgers, with the added convenience of a drive-thru,” Crowe said.
The new restaurant represents Grill’d’s fifth drive-thru location nationally and will create more than 50 local jobs.
Like all Grill’d locations, the Marriott Waters restaurant will participate in the chain’s Local Matters program, which supports local sporting clubs, charities and community groups. The first month will benefit Paylos Adventures, the Lynbrook Falcons, and the Dolphin Gymnastics Club.
Grill’d operates as one of Australia’s largest privately owned restaurant groups, employing more than 4,000 staff across 176 domestic locations and one restaurant in Bali. The company has donated more than $7 million to local communities through its Local Matters program since its inception.
The Marriott Waters location will offer Grill’d’s full menu of more than 40 items made fresh to order using locally sourced ingredients. The drive-thru will operate from 10am to 11pm, daily.
