Hecho en Mexico (HEM) is accelerating its Sydney expansion with a new Crows Nest location marking the Mexican restaurant group’s third New South Wales opening in less than 12 months.
The 25-unit chain, which launched its first Sydney restaurant in Newtown earlier this year followed by Lane Cove, is bringing its street-style Mexican concept to the North Shore suburb with a restaurant at 67 Willoughby Road. The opening created 16 local jobs, bringing HEM’s total NSW employment additions this year to more than 50 positions.
To drive traffic during the launch period, HEM is offering promotional pricing on signature items through Dec. 21, including $5 tacos (including birria), $15 classic margaritas, and $15 classic burritos with select proteins.
Authentic, street-style Mexican food
The menu mirrors offerings at other HEM locations, featuring al pastor tacos, birria tacos, fajitas, gringas, tortas and chilaquiles, along with freshly made salsas and guacamole. The beverage program includes multiple margarita flavors, mezcalitas and signature shots.
“It’s clear there’s a real appetite for the kind of authentic, street-style Mexican food we’re passionate about serving up, and bringing HEM to Crows Nest feels like a natural next step,” said co-founder Parveen Bajar.
The chain differentiates itself through ingredient sourcing, importing spices, chillies and salsas directly from Mexico while partnering with local NSW suppliers for fresh produce.
Design firm 8 architects handled the buildout, creating a space that blends modern design with Mexican cultural elements and includes alfresco dining.
Founded in 2013 by Parveen Bajar and Menak Grover, HEM has grown to 25 locations nationally, with additional openings planned in coming months. The Crows Nest restaurant will operate seven days a week from 11:30am to 10pm.
