There’s something extraordinary about taking a spark of an idea — a flavour, a concept, a purpose — and turning it into something real. You start with a dream that won’t quieten, a vision that keeps you awake at night, and somehow, through courage, intuition, and a fair bit of grit, it becomes something people trust, love, and gather around.
For women in food and beverage, that journey isn’t just about business. It’s about building something deeply human — something that carries heart, heritage, and hope.
For me, that story begins with family, food, and a man who taught me what it means to believe in yourself — my father.
Where vision begins
I grew up surrounded by amazing food, laughter, and love. My mother was a passionate home cook who believed food should always be shared, and my father had an open-door policy that made our home a hub of connection. Friends, neighbours, and even the occasional stranger would wander in, and they were always welcomed.
There was always music playing in the background, and my dad’s air guitar solos were the stuff of legend. He had this ability to draw people in, to make them feel seen and valued. That warmth, that sense of belonging, became the foundation for how I see the world, and later, how I built my business.
When he passed away in 2018, there was a silence that felt impossible to fill. But his lessons, his belief in me, never left. He always said, “You can do anything you put your mind to.”
One night, as my daughter slept beside me, John Lennon’s Imagine, my dad’s favourite song, began to play. I remember singing softly to her, and the name Imagine Collective arrived like a whisper. It was as if he were still there, reminding me that imagination, unity, and courage are the cornerstones of everything meaningful.
That night became a turning point. I was a single, full-time parent, starting over from scratch as I was pigeon holed with my career by a colleague being a single parent for a promotion (they stopped it happening), but I was clear on one thing: I wanted to build something that would inspire my daughter to know she could, too, do anything she set her heart on.
Where vision meets reality
Every great brand starts with that same quiet conviction. An idea that refuses to fade. A belief that something can be done better, more beautifully, or more consciously.
Building in food and hospitality is never just about the product; it’s about people. It’s the long hours, the early mornings, the details you obsess over because you care too much not to. It’s the persistence that keeps you steady through uncertainty and the creativity that keeps you moving forward when the path isn’t clear.
You pour yourself into something that carries not only your name but your essence. And that’s powerful.
The truth is, building a brand isn’t only about growth — it’s about meaning. It’s about creating something that outlives trends, something that nourishes both people and purpose.
That’s what Imagine Collective became: a brand rooted in collaboration, creativity, and calm. A business that helps other food and beverage founders bring their ideas to life with clarity and confidence.
The power of a female lens
There’s a quiet revolution happening in our industry, led by women who are reimagining what leadership looks like.
Women build differently. We lead with care, with intuition, with a sense of stewardship for our teams and communities. We think in circles, not ladders. We balance creativity with structure, passion with purpose. And it shows, in the way we design menus, manage teams, or grow brands that reflect something deeper than profit.
For so long, hospitality has been defined by hustle culture, the long hours, the grind, the badge of burnout. But women are changing that narrative. We’re proving that sustainable success doesn’t come from rush, but rhythm. That clarity and calm are not luxuries, they’re strategies.
When you know your numbers, you claim your confidence. When your systems support your creativity, your energy expands. And when your work aligns with your values, you stop surviving and start scaling with ease.
That’s the distinctly feminine lens reshaping our industry, one that values both structure and soul.
Building calm, building strong
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that longevity in food isn’t built through chaos; it’s built through clarity.
In the early days of my business, I tried to do it all, to prove I could, to keep up, to say yes to everything. But that approach leads to burnout, not brilliance. It took me years (and a few big lessons) to realise that calm is my power.
Now, I design my business the way I want my clients to design theirs, with rhythm, intentionality, and space for creativity.
Because that’s what sustainability looks like: knowing your worth, valuing your energy, and building systems that allow you to create with joy, not exhaustion.
Collaboration over competition
The most exciting thing happening in the food and beverage space right now isn’t a new product or trend; it’s collaboration.
Whether it’s co-developing a menu, sharing a platform, or championing another woman’s launch, connection multiplies impact.
Imagine Collective was built on that philosophy. We don’t compete for space; we expand it. We connect venues, brands, and producers who share a vision for conscious growth. Because the future of food isn’t about fighting for shelf space or client lists, it’s about creating partnerships that amplify purpose.
When women come together in this industry, the result is magic and measurable growth. We rise faster when we rise together.

Reflect. Refine. Rise.
As founders, we’re always looking forward to the next opportunity, the next challenge, the next evolution. But every so often, it’s worth pausing to look back.
You turned an idea into something tangible. You navigated uncertainty, built trust, and found your rhythm in a landscape that never stops changing. That’s not small, that’s legacy in motion.
My father’s lessons remind me to keep things grounded in purpose. My daughter reminds me why that purpose matters. And every woman I meet in this industry reminds me how far we’ve come, and how much further we can go.
There’s beauty in the blend of resilience and imagination that women bring to food and hospitality. It’s not loud; it’s steady. It’s not about running faster; it’s about staying aligned with our vision, our values, and our version of success.
A legacy of connection
Food is a connection. Always has been. Always will be.
It connects us to memory, to culture, to family, to possibility. When I think of my dad, his music, his laughter, his belief in me, I realise that what I’m really building isn’t just a business. It’s a continuation of that legacy: of belonging, of courage, of connection.
And that’s what I want to pass on to my daughter — the understanding that success isn’t about doing it all, but about doing it with purpose. That leadership can be kind. That strength can be soft. And that imagination can build empires.
To every woman building her dream
You are proof that calm is powerful. That integrity builds longevity. That creativity is a form of courage.
You’ve built something from the ground up, and that deserves to be celebrated. You’re shaping the next chapter of our industry not by being louder, but by being truer.
Keep creating. Keep refining. Keep rising.
Because when women lead with vision, we don’t just change our own story, we change the future of food for everyone who follows.
After all, why be an ordinary pineapple when you can be golden?
