Minor DKL Food Group, the parent company of Australia’s largest homegrown café chain The Coffee Club, is rolling out a new quick-service brand called Three Stories Café as part of its growth strategy under newly appointed CEO Richard Hinson.
The first Three Stories location opened recently at the Mobo corporate building in South Brisbane’s Tribune Street, targeting office workers with a streamlined grab-and-go format.
The concept focuses on speed and convenience, offering pre-prepped and packaged food alongside the same Three Stories coffee blend served at The Coffee Club locations.
The café has found early success with local office workers seeking morning coffee, quick lunches, and afternoon snacks. The model also includes office catering capabilities, positioning it as what Minor DKL calls “a key growth opportunity” for the company.
Hinson, who took the CEO role in May, brings extensive experience from leadership positions at Retail Food Group and Countrywide. At Retail Food Group, he oversaw a turnaround program across more than 1,000 outlets nationally.
He said he’s committed to building a customer-centric culture across Minor DKL’s brands: “At the heart of every great café is the people – our Franchise Partners, their teams, and the customers who make The Coffee Club part of their daily ritual. I’m committed to strengthening those partnerships, building a culture centred on collaboration and innovation, where Franchise Partners thrive and every customer experience is personalised and memorable. This is how we will continue to build a café network that Australians love and trust for generations to come.”
Minor DKL operates more than 350 cafés and restaurants across 13 countries, including approximately 400 Coffee Club stores serving upwards of 40 million customers.
The company is the Australian subsidiary of Thai-listed Minor International PCL.
